GBO Cannon Calendar Poll 2010

WWW.GBOCannons.com , the Blackpowder Mortar and Cannon Forum is putting together its annual calendar for 2010.  The Calendar will be available at the GBO eStore.  Forum members have submitted pictures for consideration for the calendar and we are asking you to vote for the 13 Cannon pictures you would most like to see on the calendar.

The Poll is open to all Members of GBO, not just the Cannon Forum  members. If you can see the poll you can vote.  The poll wil run for 45 days.  If I counted the days right it closes October 31--more or less.

Well at first it looked like we had an ACORN type event going on.  What it looks like now is some one had their colleagues register and vote.  No problem with that we'll take all the new members we can get!

Let me explain what's going on.

In an effort to keep GBO spam free Super Global Moderators monitor new membership and try and sort out spammer IP'S and deny membership before they can post their garbage.

I don't know the full technicalities of the process but the grossly simplified version is every Internet Service provider-ISP has an Internet Protocol address- IP address.  George works in this field so if you need a full technical explanation contact him. 

Recently it was noticed that there was a rash of new members coming from the same IP address.  Normally this wouldn't mean much more than they all had the same ISP.  What was noted was the ISP in this case assigned each customer it's own unique identifier and all these new log on's came from this same unique IP address. 

It was also noted that each of these new members logged in one time and only did one thing, voted in the poll. 

After some more research we determined that each new member was a different person, probably work colleagues. It wasn't the same person logging on

There is no problem with having your family and friends log on and vote for your picture.  It helps generate new  members, and that's great.

I encourage everyone to tell the friends and family about our board.  If all they do is vote, well and good.  If they look around and join, that's even  better.

So get out the vote! Sign up your friends and family.
